WfW AS IMPACT CONSULTANT

We have been active in the Zambian water sector for almost 10 years now. Through countless projects with local key stakeholders, WfW has been able to acquire important, context-specific expertise during this time, which we can now increasingly apply in advisory activities.

Wherever possible, WfW takes responsibility for the implementation of knowledge gained from advisory services by contributing its own resources. This creates an impact beyond the consultancy - that is why we see ourselves as impact consultants.

EXPANDING THE FIELD OF IMPACT

In the role as Impact Consultant, WfW can contribute its many years of experience as well as its context-specific knowledge as a consultant. At the same time we can also expand our field of impact as an implementation partner or donor. This form of implementation is to be increasingly pursued in the future in order to increase the efficiency of the programme work and to strengthen the synergies of cooperation with the respective partnerships.

WHY IMPACT CONSULTING?

In order to master challenges such as the development of sustainable water and sanitation systems or future-oriented, fair water management, professional know-how is elementary. Through targeted consulting services, WfW can contribute its context-specific knowledge built up over many years as a technical as well as strategic consultant. In this way, decision-making bases can be developed for companies, governments or other institutions for the further development of systems and services.

Consulting creates impact

We see our role as an impact consultant as a means of sharing responsibility for implementation according to the respective circumstances, by taking up promising findings from the consultancy and facilitating their implementation. In implementation, WfW acts either as an active donor, through funds generated specifically for this purpose, or in an operational role.

WfW'S FIRST EXPERIENCES

As part of a comprehensive market analysis of the Zambian water sector, WfW was active as an impact consultant for the first time in 2021: for example, discussions with employers from the sector as well as with around 100 vocational school graduates enabled us to introduce their needs at the highest national level. In 2022, we will continue to build on our many years of experience in Zambian vocational education and training with further consulting activities, thus expanding our portfolio.

PRINCIPLES AS AN IMPACT CONSULTANT

Consulting mandates are guided by the following fundamental principles:

in line with WfW's strategy

Consulting activities are limited to assignments that have a positive social, environmental and economic impact on society in line with WfW's strategy. This enables us to fulfil our overall responsibility as an organisation.

charitable reinvestment

The profits from WfW's advisory activities flow directly back into programme work - this enables the sector to be strengthened sustainably through various approaches.

national focus

WfW experts in the water sector enable the results from the advisory activities to be applied at national level through the systemic approaches.

long-term perspective

WfW only engages in consultancy assignments that fit into our existing fields of activity on the one hand and show a long-term perspective on the other. In this way, we can use our expertise to generate sustainable added value for WfW's overarching goals.
