Education with Water
On May 23rd, we graduated our first AQUADEMICS at the Kantonsschule Musegg (KSMUS) in Lucerne. As part of the Erasmus+ "Youth Europeans for water sustainability" project, 20 pupils at KSMUS completed the AQUADEMIA water cycle developed by WfW and took an in-depth look at water as a resource over the last school year.
The highlight was the water challenge, in which the pupils developed their own "Hydro Walk" through Lucerne with our support. They successfully presented the result to their colleagues from the two Erasmus+ partner schools in Cologne and Mallorca.
At the end of the water cycle, we reviewed the year. Tumba, Programme Manager Programmes & Knowledge Management WfW Zambia, was also there to introduce the students to the work of WfW Zambia and tell them about her career - and, in the best case scenario, to inspire the young people to continue tackling water in the future. Afterwards, there was a lively discussion over snacks and drinks and the water cycle came to an end.
Water Cycle
At the Kantonsschule Musegg, we have thus completed the first implementation of the water cycle within the WfW education programme AQUADEMIA. A water cycle lasts one year and includes various formats on the topics of water & consumption, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and the world of water as a profession. We work closely with teachers and pupils to develop teaching and learning materials on WfW topics. The highlight of the water cycle is the water challenge, in which the learning outcomes become visible.
