ZAMBIAN WATER REFORM

WfW achieves another milestone in water-related vocational training and is nominated by the Zambian Ministry of Higher Education to become a member of the Skills Advisory Group.

A short while ago we received news from Zambia that we are particularly pleased about: The Zambian Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) appointed WfW as a member of the newly formed Skills Advisory Group. Our team colleague Tumba Mupango is now representing WfW in the newly formed committee for water supply and sanitation with emphasis on vocational education and training (VET).

The committee was established as an integral part of the Zambian water sector reform and serves to coordinate stakeholders consisting of ministries, training institutions, trainees as well as employers. In cooperation with the Ministry of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Higher Education as well as the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), we aim to achieve the modernization of water-related vocational training courses and curricula, the expansion of educational opportunities as well as the further networking of educational institutions in the water sector with targeted measures.

WfW's appointment as a member of the Skills Advisory Group both institutionalizes WfW's role in the reform program and deepens our long-standing commitment in Zambia. What WfW started in 2013 with a course for nine plumbers, will in the future offer the opportunity to be trained and further educated in the water sector to motivated young Zambians nationwide.
